Who Did What Blurb

This whole monstruousity was originally conveived February through March 2001 by the members of The Big Note - a Frank Zappa YahooGroup. After an arduous gestation period, this site was birthed on April 11 2001. True to the essence of collaborative effort, these people are held responsible.

Howdy friends, Jack Bivouac here. I see that my boy SOFA done took good care of you whilst I was away. But, as they say, I'm back in the saddle again! Since we've pretty much covered all the ground before Lumpy Gravy became the standardized initiation to The Big Note, I thought y'all might be interested in the founder's responses to the questions given new initiates. Oh, they never had to actually perform a Lumpy Gravy themselves, but they did question one another in a similar manner in the earliest days of the group. So all you LG graduates can take heart - they never asked more of you than they asked of themselves…
So sit back, and enjoy a little trip down memory lane.

Poodle's Picks
Favorite Song: RDNZL -"Studio Tan" ---&--- "LÄTHER"
Favorite Solo: solo from "Yo Mama" on "Sheik Yerbouti"
Favorite Ad-lib: "Ah, but it's a great time to be alive, ladies and gentlemen, and that's the theme of our program for tonight. It's so fuckin' great to be alive is what the theme of our show is tonight, boy and girls. And I wanna tell ya, if there's anybody here who doesn't believe that it's fuckin' great to be alive, I wish they would leave now 'cause this show will bring them down so much." -from "Call Any Vegetable" on "Just Another Band from L.A."

Sofa's Picks
Favorite Song: Peaches En Regalia.
Favorite Solo: Shut Up & Play Yer Guitar Some More.
Favorite Ad-lib: The "f**k you too buddy, f**k you very much" from the Lather Album.

zet's picks:
Favorite Song: Watermelon In Easter Hay, from Joe's Garage
Favorite Solo: The Torture Never Stops (Part Two), from The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life
Favorite Ad-lib: "I have an important message to deliver to all the cute people all over the world. If you're out there and you're cute, maybe you're beautiful, I just wanna tell you something... There's more of us ugly motherf***ers then you are, heyyyy, so watch out..." from Dance Contest, Tinseltown Rebellion

Big Swifty's picks:
Favorite Song: Lets Make the Water Turn Black
Favorite Solo:: a draw between Watermelon in Easter Hay and Yo Mama.
Favorite Ad-lib: There is a sequence of Lone Ranger and Tonto references which appear to be pleasing everyone on stage including FZ, when others in the band appear to catch him out. I forget the recording right now.

Well folks, there ya have it. You can see that the Lumpy Gravy reaches even the upper echelon of The Big Note. Like my Grampappy used to say, "Boy, even the greatest of men have had to take there fair share of lumps". I hope y'all will come back for some more Lumpy Gravy. I'm stirrin' up a fresh batch as you read this…
